Trade Processing - Supervisor
Overview: Lehman Brothers Asset Management (“LBAM”) Operations supports institutional asset management portfolio managers/traders within the IMD Division. LBAM Operations staff, based in Chicago, is responsible for the efficient and accurate recording of transactions and asset information through trade management oversight, coordination of trade settlement with clients’ custodian banks as well as the reconciliation of client accounts with custodian banks. In addition, LBAM Operations supports the portfolio management process by providing and maintaining portfolio information, benchmark and security data. Through the maintenance and reconciliation of portfolios, portfolio analytics and performance data, LBAM Operations ensures the quality portfolio management and client reporting.
The Trade Processing Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day to day issues and exceptions in the trade processing and settlement flow. This role supports a rapidly growing business working closely with the portfolio management team and must ensure accuracy of all transaction processing.
Responsibilities:
Oversee the daily trade processing function – internal trade processing, external trade notification, timely settlement of trades, resolution of discrepancies, and external reporting.
Resolve trade discrepancy issues between broker, custodian and internal records in a timely manner.
Coordinate application enhancements with department and IT, including the implementation of industry initiatives into our current processing platform.
Responsible for the daily sign-off on mortgage trade processing and corrections from prior trading days.
Review all trade correction entries and documentation for completeness and accuracy.
Provide feedback and insight for the performance review process for the Trade Processing Analysts.
Coordinate the follow up and resolution of outstanding discrepancies with Operations department members responsible for various projects.
Assists with internal inquiries and ad hoc requests.•
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree degree in Accounting or Finance.
Proven supervisory or team leadership skills – one to two years preferred.
Five to seven years of experience in the investment management industry, preferably with fixed income securities.
The applicant should have a working knowledge of trade communication standards, i.e. ISITC and SWIFT.
Working knowledge of fixed income security operations, transactions and processing.
Excellent communication skills and attention to details are required.
Able to work in a team environment while taking individual responsibility for the quality and accuracy of his/her work.
The applicant must have strong organizational and math skills, and have the ability to problem-solve and be sensitive to deadlines.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook.
Experience with Portia (Portfolio Accounting System) and Staars (reconciliation software) a plus.
