Team Lead III - Claims

Premera Blue Cross is seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead our Alaska Claims Team at our Mount Lake Terrace Campus.  This position reports to the Manager of Claims Operations and will be responsible for managing a team of twelve claims processors.  Responsiblities include overseeing associates work load and performance levels for quantity and quality are consistenty met, resolving client service issues as they arise, and altering work assisgnments as necessary to meet production needs. 

The ideal candidate will possess strong coaching and mentoring capabilities, team development skills, and enjoy working on a variety of cross functional team projects.  Project management skills are a plus.

Responsibilities:
1. Interviews, hires, coaches, and disciplines staff.
2. Appropriately schedules and assigns work to staff by monitoring staff performance levels and work group production and quality assessment statistics.
3. Oversees time worked and attendance of staff.
4. Provides appropriate and timely performance feedback to staff both informally and during formal review processes. Recommends appropriate merit and promotion pay increases.
5. Ensures staff participate in Premera operations training in order to develop their knowledge and skills and to meet team service level goals.
6. Implements and monitors procedures to ensure smooth, accurate and timely work flow within assigned group.
7. Resolves client issues within teams and recommends solutions to issues that arise across team assignments.
8. Diagnoses problems and alters work flow as needed to meet and/or exceed standards.
9. With direct approval, inputs budget recommendations for assigned team(s). Researches and explains variances from budget monthly.
10. Identifies, designs and implements appropriate solutions to staffing, quality and work load problems in a timely and effective manner.
11. Identifies workflow problems between groups and works collaboratively with others to design, recommend and implement effective solutions and systems changes.
12. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Proficiency with personal computers as a work tool.
3. Skill in problem solving.
4. Sense of urgency to meet ongoing production deadlines.
5. Outstanding interpersonal skills.
6. Two years successful experience in related operations areas.

Additional Qualifications Preferred:
1. At least 1 year leadership experience.
2. Associates degree in business or related area preferred.

3. Familiarity with Premera products and systems.
4. Experience with quality and production management tools and systems.
