National Interstate Insurance Company wants you to add your vision and drive to our team!  We’re currently seeking a Staff Accountant I within our Northeast OH Corporate Headquarters.

Summary:

Maintains accounts, records, ledgers and statements of the Company’s financial condition according to professional and Company standards.  Prepares and submits government and management financial reports.

Main responsibilities will include:Prepares statements, schedules, filings, and reports.  Compiles, balances, and controls necessary data.  Assists in the preparation of more complex reports.Maintains and controls worksheets, reports, ledgers, postings, filing calendars, and other data.  Updates information as required.  Prepares and processes summaries.Analyzes reports for various accounts and establishes controls.  Prepares analysis reports.  Resolves discrepancies within limits of authority.Reviews and evaluates existing procedures and operations in assigned area.  Makes recommendations regarding improvements.Performs other duties and special projects as directed.



Keys to Success Include:Bachelor’s degree (in Accounting) from a four-year college or university (or graduating in 2008)1-2 years experience at Accountant I level desirable (internship experience included) Experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, & AccessWorking knowledge of accounting theory and principlesStrong analytical and communication skillsAbility to prioritize work to meet deadlines
