Staff Accountant

  Staff Accountant for Downtown Dallas client

  Candidate needed to manage soft dollar program and assist with operations accounting functions for a hedge

  fund investment advisor. Responsibilities include managing soft dollar broker accounts and research payments

  facilitated through brokers; accounting for research expenses and monthly and quarterly reporting; and

  working with the trade desk for commission budgets.  Accounting functions for the management company

  of investment advisor and related entities including daily operating and accounting functions, monthly and

  quarterly close duties, and treasury management.

 

  Preferred Background

  · Accounting or Finance Degree

  · CPA designation a plus; not required, however, prefer candidate to be motivated to obtain license

  · Two years or more of work experience with accounting firm or other operational accounting experience

  · Knowledge of:

Generally Accepted Accounting Policies

Partnership accounting

Consolidation accounting

Financial analysis

Budget forecasting and budget to actual reviews

Sector/division allocations and reporting

Foreign currency transactions and translations

  ·  Advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, specifically Excel

  ·  Experience with QuickBooks and/or Epicor Accounting Software a positive but not required

  ·  Knowledge of broker relationships, client commission arrangements and soft dollars a big plus

  Specific Duties - included but not limited to the following

  · Manage soft dollar program including managing research provider relationships, agreements,

  invoices and payments; monthly  reconciliation of broker accounts; expense allocations to

  internal sectors; monthly and quarterly reporting; quarterly commission budgets and budget to

  actual reviews

  · Operating functions and accounting for activities for various management company entities

including cash transactions and journal entries

  · Assists the assistant controller in monitoring and funding operating cash needs for domestic

  and foreign offices

  · Performing monthly bank reconciliations and other monthly and quarterly close responsibilities

  · Assists in routine reporting of financials to tax department

  · Responsible for fixed assets accounting including review of capitalized transactions in accordance

  with policy, review of fixed asset system entries and quarterly reconciliations to GL

  · Assist in annual audits and procedures for domestic and foreign entities

  · Other tasks and projects as assigned
