Summary

 

The Fundamental Analyst is responsible for conceiving and independently producing timely research on designated small-cap industries and companies for a new investment strategy at the firm.  This new group will be responsible for making markets and taking strategic positions in illiquid securities, mainly Pink Sheet and Bulletin Board stocks.  Fundamental research will play a major role in this process, including the identification of major core positions in the long/short trading book.

 

Core Responsibilities

 

· Examine current and past performance of small-cap companies and industries to construct forward-looking financial models

· Develop sophisticated market intelligence and identify trends related to companies in the assigned sector

· Generate new ideas for potential investments

· Track, critique and adjust investment theses and price targets on current holdings as new information and data become available

· Prepare written company-specific reports.

· Develop and update stock ratings and financial models for revenue and income forecasts

 

Qualifications and Skills

· Ability to communicate ideas and opinions clearly and with confidence (both written and verbal)

· Knowledge of advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures

· A positive track record of stock recommendations in the small cap universe over an extended period of time.

 

 

Educational/Previous Experience Requirements

·BS required; CFA required

·5 years of demonstrated experience with primary research of small-cap companies
