Sr Data Developer-Perl, PL/SQL Data Munger
We are looking for a consultant for a long term project in Rockville, MD.
This data-oriented developer will be responsible for data centric software development in Perl/DBI integrated to Oracle databases. Looking for a person who has a solid background in data transformation software development using dynamic languages with Perl on UNIX as the primary development environment. This position needs a senior candidate who is self motivated and follows through on the details.
Must have skills to succeed in this position:
PERL scripting with DBD/DBI experience working with Oracle. Other dynamic languages skills considered { Perl, Python, Tcl, Scheme/Lisp, PL/SQL } but Perl is our implementation language of choice. A Perl data munger is the perfect candidate for this position. UNIX scripting. Solid understanding of software development lifecycle including data analysis, data modeling and data testing to be able to write quality unit tests and assist the data validation processes. Great design, problem solving and thinking skills. Great written and verbal communication skills. This is a development position, and hence the individual will not be responsible for managing production or DR environments. The individual will not have to be on call for production support. Minimum 10 years of experience in software development arena.
Useful skills for this position:
Understanding of Unix system administration a plus in order to work with the SA assigned to this project. Experience in packaging and deploying software across environments (dev, QC, DR, production) a plus. PERL scripting with DBD/DBI experience working with Informix. Experience in writing PL/SQL ETL code a plus. Knowledge of test driven development and perl::test or PL/SQL unit test frameworks a plus.
