The Department’s objectives include providing reliable, timely, and accurate tax returns.  Reporting directly to the director, US Tax Compliance, the Senior Tax Accountant will coordinate closely with Manulife’s business unit and financial professionals in Boston and Toronto, to meet the company’s tax return objectives.  Responsibilities include: • Federal Income Tax Compliance. Assisting with filing of two consolidated life non-life returns specifically the consolidated life insurance company returns. • State Income Tax Compliance. Assisting in the timely and accurate filing of premium tax returns for all U.S. states and territories. • Communication, coordination, collaboration. Effective professional and interpersonal liaison work with: business area and financial personnel (including Senior Management) throughout the enterprise to define tax information needs; State examiners and corporate auditors to provide support and explanations for filed positions; colleagues from Financial Reporting, Analysis & Planning, Audit, and Advisory teams within the US Taxation Department to assure timely and accurate overall tax reporting and risk management.Minimum Bachelors degree in accountingCPA, or advanced degree in taxation or accounting would be helpful3 — 5 years’ professional experience with insurance tax complianceIRC knowledge and research ability required.
