Senior .Net Software Engineer
The role of the Senior Software Engineer is to support and enhance the OMFN Applications environment through the design and development of proprietary software and database systems and the integration of third-party applications. As a senior team member, the engineer will assume lead roles in the design and coding of applications, oversee the work of all junior engineers, and participate in the strategic planning around future development of the OMFN Applications environment. The engineer will participate in both local (Baltimore-based) application development efforts as well as enterprise projects involving teams from across the OMUS organization.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1.
Follow the OMFN development methodology and project lifecycle to gather requirements, plan software and database systems, author code, test all code and deploy applications consistent with the OMUS change control procedures.
2.
Lead and document the technical design of websites and applications based on requirements gathered in the OMFN project lifecycle.
3.
Author code to enable web and windows form based functionality using the Microsoft .Net development framework.
4.
Perform routine unit, quality assurance and regression tests to validate the readiness of internal and externally developed code for production.
5.
Author deployment plans for use by colleagues in the migration of work from staging to production environments.
6.
Assist in the design and development of relational database models by coordinating with OMFN’s Data Architect
7.
Review the code and application designs produced by junior team members/consultants and provide instruction and guidance to ensure work is completed to OMFN standards of quality and performance.
8.
Review and provide additions and refinements to the Application Patterns and Practices documents.
9.
Provide overall technical leadership and guidance within the applications development area and enforce standards for system architecture, code quality and collaborative team development.
10.
Serve as a liaison between the business areas and the OMFN IT development staff to ensure smooth execution of project and enhancement development.
11.
Attend routine departmental meetings to support communication around development best practices, participate in change control discussions, review code, and provide technical instruction to colleagues.
12.
Partner with external TPAs and consultants to collaborate on large scale development efforts and enforce OMFN standards for integration and data exchange.

Attend conferences, developer forums, and training opportunities to ensure current technology trends are understood and applied within the OMFN environment
NECESSARY SKILL SET:
1.
Four year college degree majoring in Engineering or Computer Science
2.
Minimum of five years experience designing and building applications using the Microsoft development platform
3.
Proficiency in C#, ASP.NET, Web Services, XML/XSD, Application Security, AJAX, CSS, t-SQL. A Strong candidate would also have experience in Reporting Services, SSIS, SOA, ActionScript, Classic ASP, VB6, UML, Biztalk, Sharepoint.
4.
Strong time management and organizational skills to enable productivity in a fast-paced, dynamic development environment
5.
Strong technical documentation ability
6.
Strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to work effectively in team-based development projects
PREFERRED SKILL SET:
1.
Recent experience in a technical leadership role, mentoring/instructing others
2.
Experience designing and implementing relational data models
3.
Financial Services experience, preferably in the insurance industry
