The Senior Instructional Designer builds the conceptual/detailed design, executes the design and is responsible for the overall design integrity of the learning asset. The Senior Instructional Designer develops and/or customizes and implements multimedia and paper-based training courses including videos, other training media, workbooks, leader’s guides, facilitator’s agendas, handouts, reinforcement tools, etc., for the international financial services industry.The Senior Instructional Designer provides the day-to-day direction and organization of multiple training courses as well as building the course materials. The Senior Instructional Designer ensures that projects are executed according to our process, quality, budget, and milestone standards. The Senior Instructional Designer tracks and reports progress to ensure completion according to agreed-upon schedule and within agreed-upon requirements for themselves and team members. Job Description 1. Assist in the planning, design, development, customization, execution, and implementation of training materials including videos, other training media, Workbooks, Leader’s Guides, Facilitator’s Agendas, handouts, reinforcement tools, etc.· Conduct needs analyses to confirm appropriateness of learning objectives· Create initial conceptual designs (based on proven instructional theory) that meet business requirements· Facilitate content gathering from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)· In conjunction with the course author, develop course and support material content outlines and media requirements· Apply analytical skills to ensure that course content is being interpreted correctly in written documentation.· Complete detailed designs based on high-level module designs· Oversee integration of content into learning product based on conceptual design and according to Program Development process standards · Develop instruction modules and materials based on design specifications· Set direction for the reflection, coaching, delivery and performance support strategy· Define test approaches based on client needs and schedule· Determines how to capture feedback and how SMEs will review or participate in design/development efforts· Identify learning-related issues such as content sequencing, flow of information and relevancy of media and identify potential solutions· Evaluate materials to ensure that learning objectives have been met and appropriately satisfy performance gaps.· Review deliverables for completeness, compliance with standards, and consistency with the detailed design; prepare materials for manager review· Provide oversight on content revisions given feedback from internal and client reviewers or stakeholders, manage work effort to maintain scope· Perform quality control tasks on written documentation, videos, graphics, other training media and related timings. 2. Support training solutions development process· Coordinate project activities between all disciplines including video, graphics, technology, project management, fulfillment, and client relations to produce quality, instructionally sound materials· Identify continuous improvement areas based on lessons learned; modify process steps as appropriate with direction from manager· Collaborate with team, peers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) via professional communication channels to maintain relationships 3. Lead/assist in the in the management of project initiatives and complete project administration tasks· Manage smaller development projects (those with less risk and/ or complexity as defined by the Project Manager)· Estimate effort (output hours), and create the approach and timeline· Develop and execute a project communication plan· Facilitate interactions between the development, technical, fulfillment, client relations, video, and graphics teams to ensure clear communications and to ensure each project is completed as scheduled· Provide coaching to team members regarding process, quality metrics and professional behaviors· Report status including estimates to complete work; identify potential risks and recommendations for mitigation· Request feedback related to deliverables and own and team performance, suggest and execute action items· Coordinate various aspects of video shoots as and when required.Job Requirements· Classroom-Based course design/development experience, specifically working with corporate-wide initiatives (at least 4 – 5 years) · Experience within the financial services industry (specifically Banking), specifically focused in the customer service and/or sales training areas (at least 1– 2 years) · B.A. or M.A in Instructional Design, Instructional Technologies, Technical Writing but not limited to these · Demonstrated knowledge of advanced instructional design techniques and topics, adult learning principles, and classroom-based development tools · Strong written communication skills – working knowledge of editorial requirements –grammar, punctuation, sentence structure and instructional design of materials with attention to detail to ensure quality · Advanced oral communication skills – ability to facilitate client/sponsor discussions to set expectations and ensure appropriate involvement · Experience with developing training solutions for a global audience; adjusting materials based on cultural needs, regional constraints and localization or translation considerations · Skilled in using several instructional approaches; video-based, paper-based, computer-based and/or web-based (at least 2–3 years) · Project management experience (at least 2-3 years) – Ability to plan and estimate tasks; knowledge of project management tools including work-planning and resource scheduling · Skills in desktop publishing, FrameMaker preferred (2–3 years experience) · Proficiency on PC platforms and/or Macintosh in Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, and Excel; experience with Final Draft and MSProject a plus · Presentation skills (e.g., train-the-trainer) a plus · A mature, organized approach to tasks · The ability to work with minimal supervision · A team player with leadership and creative skills · Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with tight deadlines If this speaks to you and you feel this job has you name all over it, please send your resume as a Word attached document to: sandra.hearne@hudson.com About Hudson IT & Telecommunications Hudson IT&T serves as a trusted resource for clients seeking high-quality technology professionals and IT solutions.
