Location: Riverwoods, IL UNITED STATESFunctional Area: Technology/E-CommerceMin Pay Rate: $0Max Pay Rate: $0Pay Type: YearResource Type: Full TimeJob Description: The focus for this role is to help Discover identify opportunities to enhance and improve upon each successive Business Intelligence release with a focus on the following: *Establish design and delivery best practices for both reports and metadata models. *Consult with internal development, data modeling, and ETL teams. *Attend and conduct code walkthrough and design inspections. *Continue to help identify areas that may benefit from optimization. Perform analysis, design, coding, documentation, testing, implementation and turnover of reports and metadata models. Full lifecycle development (SDLC). Promote features of the Cognos tools and assist with identifying the right tool for the target audience. Identify and resolve impediments to successful completion of projects. Strong problem solving skills and a willingness to take initiative. Continue to develop top-notch understanding Cognos tool features and functionality.SKILLSRequired: Required Tools Knowledge: *In depth knowledge of Cognos ReportNet or Cognos 8 tool suite. Prefer experience with both versions. *SQL - Strong database skills required (Query optimization, etc.) *Unix, AIX, Linux *Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Visio Knowledge of general data warehousing concepts and dimensional modeling techniques as they relate to Cognos development. Team oriented philosophy is a must. Team player and approach to work. Familiar with the phases of the software life cycle development, including design, programming, testing, documentation, implementation and maintenance Strong verbal communication and excellent communication skills. Ability to interact positively with associates across all levels of the company.Desired: Knowledge and experience of Oracle and Teradata database platforms. Project management skills a plus.
