SDLC Engineer

The Software Development Lifecycle Engineer, you will be a key member of our Enterprise Technology Application Lifecycle Management team. You will work with software developers, managers and other Enterprise Technology engineers as a subject matter expert on the practices and administrative procedures for the portfolio of SDLC/ALM tools used within the SIG Enterprise environment. This will include Source Code & Configuration Management (SCM), build systems, platform specific tool suites and the development of custom tools. Essential Functions Investigate & Troubleshoot process and tool issues reported by developers Identify and propose procedural improvements and practice improvements Provide resolution where appropriate and communicate root / cause and resolution to the ALM team Participate in the analysis and review of proposed, planned and under evaluation practices and tools Monitor tool environments for performance, capacity and usageWork with developers and managers to assess project needs Document and record requirements for each product / project Identify and recommend the best practices for Product Versioning, SCM, Source Control and Tool suites Assemble the ALM run book for each team to utilize as a guide in executing ALM related activitiesEducate developers on the ALM standards, polices and procedures Plan the setup and configuration of new projects as required Design and develop enhancements and/or new custom tools Design, develop and integrate tools that support the configuration management, build and release of software developed in C/C++, C#, XML, ASP.NET, Perl, Python, VB.NET, and ORACLE & SQL Server databases Work with developers to troubleshoot issues with tools and practicesEstablish, maintain and support SCM, automated Build environments, automated unit test framework and Defect Tracking processProvide progress reports for all projects and ensure timely and accurate reporting Required/Preferred Qualifications At least two (2) years of recent experience as an SCM Engineer ot software developer with exposure to SDLC Management process is requiredUnderstanding of SDLC development principles is requiredMust be experienced at developing applications and tools using several of the following: Perl, ack, Shell Script, C/C++, .NET, VB.NET, C#, ASP.NET, HTML, XHTML, XML, CSSKnowledge of or exposure to several of the following SCM and ALM tools highly prefered: Perforce/Subversion, DevTrack, xUnit, gmake, MSBUILD, Visual Build, CruiseControl(.NET), ANT, Serena TeamTrack, Mercury Quality CenterExposure to build/release engineering and configuration management strongly prefered Experience with one or more IDE such as Eclipse, Visual Studio 2003/2005, CollabNet is requiredWorking knowledge of databases [Oracle, SQL, MySQL] preferredFamiliarity with the configuration and administration of Linux and/or Windows platforms is preferredWindows platform knowledge requiredLinux platform knowledge highly desireable Ability to gather accurate, detailed user requirements and analyze, design, develop and implement solutions is requiredAbility to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment is requiredGood written and verbal communication skills requiredBachelor's degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is strongly preferredExperience working in a agile development environment is strongly preferredExperience as a Systems Engineer is helpful.* Apply Salary/Benefits At SIG, our employees are our most valued assets.
