Reporting to the Senior Regional Sales Manager, this highly visible position will be responsible for developing new business in the Southeastern United States. The Regional Sales Manager will target companies with large fleets (over 400 vehicles) and employ consultative selling skills to win new accounts in the region. He or she will execute business development strategies and manage all aspects of a multi-level sales cycle.
Specific responsibilities include: Successfully win new business to increase sales. Negotiate contract terms and product pricing to attain mutually beneficial business relationships with new clients. Identify key decision-makers and stakeholders, and develop multi-level relationships within target companies. Establish credibility as a knowledgeable industry resource. Determine credit worthiness of target accounts and establish priority prospects. Manage the sales process to maintain momentum, create a sense of urgency, and motivate decision makers to act. Collaborate with internal resources to develop and execute effective sales strategies. Prepare and present winning sales proposals that address the specific needs of the prospective client and differentiate the unique service solutions that are offered. Support the new account integration process and partner with the designated Fleet Consultant (Account Manager) to insure new clients receive the full benefit of the established contract. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date database on all prospects. Report relevant information regarding potential new accounts, target companies, and competitor's practices. Contribute to the development of sales goals and annual plans.
The Regional Sales Manager will be based in the Southeast Region. Working from a home office, 50% of the time is spent out in the field. Most of the travel includes day trips by car, plus 4-10 nights out-of-town per month. Required Skills
The ideal candidate is a dynamic, self-motivated sales professional with at least ten years of successful new account development experience. Prior experience selling fleet management or equipment leasing is best, yet business-to-business services or a similar solutions selling role is also applicable. Consultative selling skills are essential. This unique role requires the ability to identify problems and recommend solutions that provide cost savings and productivity improvements for clients.
The successful candidate will possess the business savvy and financial aptitude necessary to develop and present solutions that positively impact a potential client's business goals. He or she must be able to earn trust through relationship building, gain respect by demonstrating industry knowledge, and influence decisions by presenting best solutions.
Strong interpersonal skills and effective communications skills are also important. The sales process will involve both mid-managers and senior executives from various functional areas, so the Regional Sales Manager must know how to adjust his or her communications style to meet the information needs of the audience. A Bachelor's degree in business or a related field is required. At least ten years of successful new account development experience.
