REGIONAL DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT - NORTHERN CA

Mission and Summary of Position

The Business Development Consultant is an outside consultative sales role responsible for identifying, evaluating, and recruiting mid-to-large size multi-partner accounting firms. Each Consultant will be based out of their home office and is supported by a Business Development Director, who handles inside sales support, to ensure a thorough, hands-on approach to relationship building and the other activities which drive the sale.  The Consultant must be able to both generate and close business via thorough target prospecting, as well as maintaining an active referral network. The Consultant spends a large portion of his/her time traveling to visit prospects, presenting seminar programs, as well as presenting at and attending conferences, within their specified geographic region, to ensure there is a company presence at all appropriate events. 

Responsibilities - Essential Functions

All responsibilities are generally performed on a daily basis, unless otherwise noted.  Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Research target firm prospects and proactively engage via telephone to obtain commitment to pursue a financial services relationship discussion with 1st Global. Travel to prospect offices and participate in home office visits. Research and secure speaking engagements and conference opportunities. Travel to national and state conferences.  Manage marketing activities within the territory. Manage the Pivotal lead process, including entering prospect data. Participate in weekly department recruiting meetings. Participate in and contribute to ongoing 1st Global and Business Development training programs.

QualificationsThe ideal candidate will have proven consultative sales ability and a strong working knowledge of the broker dealer business and the retail financial and investments arena.  College degree required. Series 7 required. Advanced designations, such as CPA, CFP, CLU, desirable. Average 30% travel required.

SkillsStrong prospecting skills, as well as consultative sales, relationship, and presentation skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize jobs independently. Must have strong computer skills, including expert proficiency in Excel and other MS Office applications.
