Payroll Tax Compliance Supervisor

For more information, visit www.saic.com SAIC: From Science to Solutions®SAIC seeks a Tax Compliance Supervisor for our corporate payroll organization located in San Diego, CA. The supervisor will report to the Director for Corporate Payroll and will be responsible for compliance with payroll tax regulatory guidelines. Responsibilities: •Manage tax compliance for payroll •Ensure payroll tax returns are filed and payroll tax deposits made on time to minimize company’s risk of penalties and interests •Ensure accuracy of quarterly and annual reconciliations for payroll taxes •Ensure accuracy of amendments submitted to and filed by tax service bureau •Preparation and filing of tax returns for jurisdictions not supported by tax service bureau •Oversight of payroll processing and tax compliance for international employees •Deploy tax updates, including any required maintenance to payroll system and communication to employees •Respond to tax inquiries from employees and federal/state/local agencies •Conduct research and analyses of new payroll tax regulations and determine impact and implementation needs •Provide guidance and ensure adherence to payroll tax reporting policies and procedures •Recommend and implement strategies to meet current and future payroll tax organizational needs and develop procedures that support organizational goals •Collaborate with other departments to ensure tax and labor regulations are followed, including research for various proposed transactions •Manage training and development of payroll tax compliance staff •Develop open and clear lines of communication with payroll staff, Corporate Tax, third party service providers, auditors, HR/IHR, Treasury, Accounts Payable, and third parties •Participate in and/or lead various special projects as identified by management to support corporate and Finance/HR initiatives Required Skills: •Minimum 5 years multi-state payroll tax experience •Comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations and practices in regards to HR/Payroll •Extensive experience in the research, analyses, and resolution of payroll tax issues •Ability to meet deadline, under pressure of time constraints and shifting priorities •Proven leadership and mentoring skills in a fast-paced, high-volume team environment •Excellent analytical, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills •Accuracy and attention to detail •Ability to multi-task and work independently •Ability to manage organizational change •Excellent written and verbal communication skills Desired Skills: •At least two years of supervisory experience •Experience with multi-state payrolls for a 5,000-plus employee base corporation •Experience with international payroll •Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint applications •Experience with general ledger account reconciliations •Hands on knowledge of PeopleSoft, SAP, Costpoint, and ADP PCPW or leading ERP systems •Knowledge of SAIC systems, processes, and business practices Education: •Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required •CPP a plus, MBA and/or CPA desired “SAIC offers a competitive salary and benefits package.
