Part-Time Internship - Fixed Income

Southwest Securities, Inc. is a leader in trading and underwriting fixed income securities. The firm's Fixed Income group is involved in a variety of markets and deals daily with all types of depository institutions including banks, bank trust departments and credit unions as well mid-sized institutions and large individuals.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Head of Retail Fixed Income Trading, this incumbent will be dedicated to providing administrative assistance, answering phones, assisting with customer needs as well as ticket punching. In addition to, this incumbent will be responsible for daily and month-end reconciliation reporting, researching and resolving trade and/or settlement problems, identifying cusip changes, settling comparison problems and correcting keypunch and commission entries.

Days and hours are Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 1 pm - 5 pm.

Qualifications:1-2 years office experience 2-3 years Bachelor's level education with strong math skills Willingness and aptitude to learn role and serve as back-up to other support roles Ability to quickly learn systems and processes to include CSS, Bloomberg and Value Bond Excellent organizational skills with heavy emphasis on attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment Strong MS Office skills particularly in Excel and/or Access Good interpersonal skillsMust interact well with coworkers, management, and public counterparts to promoted team effort and maintain a positive attitude under pressure


Position provides opportunity to learn about fixed income markets and develop into entry level role that over time may lead into a Sales/Trader position with book building/capital commitment responsibility and an excellent compensation package.
