Our client, a leading Mutual Fund company, seeks a professional to join their staff as a Head of Risk Management.  The area of focus for this position is on Operational related risk such as process flows and service initiatives with regard to mutual fund distribution.  It is not investment specific risk. 

Candidates must have mutual fund distribution experience, not brokerage, banking, insurance or other sectors of financial services only.

Our client is seeking a results-oriented, experienced Risk Management professional to drive the implementation and long-term maintenance of a Risk Management program for our Broker/Dealer Operations department.

 

Working closely with senior management, the candidate will identify and evaluate risks, exposure and controls that relate to our business objectives, process workflows and service initiatives.  The Risk Manager will play a critical role in decision making through risk identification, assessment and mitigation, and help management perform risk-based analysis of costs associated with a wide range of business decisions.  This person will play an integral role in balancing the goals of business growth with appropriately managing risk.

 

As new risk management controls are implemented, the Risk Manager will educate staff and provide guidance to management on progress, issues and opportunities.  There will be a strong emphasis on partnering with the client’s Legal, Compliance, Operations, Sales and Internal Audit departments to anticipate and address issues. 

 

  Candidate Qualifiactions

 

We seek candidates with extensive Operations Risk experience, particularly those with a background in the mutual fund intermediary distribution business.  The individual should enjoy a fast-paced environment and conduct business with an appropriate sense of urgency. The individual we are seeking will have the following qualifications: Experience and Skills

 

·  Focus on managing business risks in efficient and effective manner

·  Preferred 10+ years, with a minimum 5-7 years experience of mutual fund experience, preferably in a prior Risk or Internal Audit role

·  Strong project management skills across multiple functions/departments

·  Strong analytical, communication and problem solving abilities

·  Operates with a sense of urgency

·  Excellent partnership skills and ability to handle multiple stakeholders

·  Willingness to interact at all levels of the organization to understand and solve issues
