.Net, T-SQL Securities Analyst (Investments, stocks, bonds, funds)
Position location: Houston, Texas - Client prefers to interview local candidates

Summary Description:
The primary role of this position is to assist with the development, enhancement, and support of custom and vendor developed applications used by Investment clients. This person needs to have strong technical, business analyst, and critical thinking skills. This person will be working closely with IT and business clients on projects related to Investment Data and Operations activities.
Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
· Design, develop and test applications and application interfaces. Application development is generally with Transact-SQL (Sybase and SQL Server), VB.NET, Informatica, Biztalk, and Unix batch scripting
· Provide ongoing application support, business recovery support, and client support
· Perform troubleshooting analysis and resolution of critical applications and batch processes
· Coordinate with vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues
· Coordinate and participate in testing for in-house and vendor developed software applications
· Work closely with business users and other IT team members (located in Houston and abroad) to gather requirements, create detailed documentation, and develop and deliver solutions that automate their daily work
· Participate in both small and large projects, reporting progress and escalating issues in a timely manner in order to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met
Skills and Abilities Required:
· Minimum of 5 years IT experience
· Experience developing VB.NET applications and creating stored procedures utilizing Transact SQL
· Experience supporting VB6 applications
· Good business analysis skills
· Relational database design and construction
· Ability to establish priorities, meet deadlines, and concentrate on detailed information in a fast-paced demanding work environment, working both individually and as part of a participatory team process
· Experience with a formalized software development lifecycle process
· Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact and communicate with clients and individuals at all technical levels is required
· Structured, disciplined approach to work, and good attention to detail
· Ability to work in a global, multicultural environment
· Exceptional troubleshooting and problem solving skills
· The ability to multi-task on various projects and support items
· Strong work ethic
Minimum Knowledge:
· Experience working in the financial services industry is favored, especially post trade investment operations
· Familiarity with Informatica – hands on experience preferred.
· Experience supporting applications written in Powerbuilder 6.5 a plus
· Crystal Report (Business Objects) experience is helpful
· Biztalk knowledge helpful
· Familiarity and working knowledge of PORTIA, Bloomberg and Charles River trading system favored
