MySQL DBA
SIG is seeking an experienced MySQL Administrator to work as a part of our DBA team, which is responsible for supporting and maintaining real-time mission critical and decision support databases in a highly available heterogeneous environment. You will work in a collaborative team environment where changes are reviewed and communicated with all members. In addition to MySQL, you may also have the opportunity to gain exposure to other databases including Oracle and MS-SQL Essential Functions Maintain and support databases and applications in a real-time trading environmentProvide user and developer support, and support to DBA associates and Application DBAsTroubleshoot, resolve, and document production problems; maintain sound backup policies and proceduresInstall, configure, and upgrade database software and related productsPerform routine and customary operational activities to ensure a stable database environmentArchive data from primary databases to archive locations. Perform schema data refreshesMonitor vendor releases and schedule necessary patchesInteract with system administrators and application developers, and business process leadersContribute ideas and suggestions to improve technology solutions Required/Preferred Qualifications A minimum of five (5) years of hands-on experience with Database Administration, several of which are working with MySQLA thorough understanding of relational databases is requiredA thorough understanding of database backup and replicationA thorough understanding of at least one flavor of Unix; Linux preferredExperience with shell script programming, Korn shell preferred; knowledge of Perl a plus Experience with Oracle or MS SQL in addition to MySQL is strongly preferredExperience with database communication mechanisms preferred: Net Services, ODBC, and TCP/IPExperience in code migration, database change management and data management through the various stages of the development life cycleUnderstanding of logical and physical modeling conceptsKnowledge of new database technologies a plusExcellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to prioritize, meet deadlines and to work well under pressureFinancial services or market knowledge a plus Must enjoy working in a fast-paced teamwork environment and dealing with a variety of peopleBS degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or equivalent work experience * Apply Salary/Benefits At SIG, our employees are our most valued assets.
