We also manage to keep a sense of humor along the way.  So if you’re ready for WaMu, read on!   You will develop or support the development of risk management strategies for existing customers.   •  Execute or supervise execution of data extraction, data mining, and analysis needed to develop credit risk management strategies or to track existing strategies.  Conduct financial analyses to support recommendations. •  Improve segmentation and treatments for existing customers.  Analyze the usefulness of new sources of data to improve strategies, and lead projects to integrate new data into production. •  Perform custom analytic projects to answer strategic questions that impact credit risk and profitability. •  Coordinate with cross-functional teams and outside vendors to develop new analytic models, software, and systems to reduce credit losses and delinquencies. •  Support team by testing and implementing new strategies on TSYS platforms. •  Provide guidance to highly-skilled professionals within Credit Risk Management team.  •  Foster strong, productive, collaborative relationships with Legal, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and adhere to internal and external policies, procedures and documentation, and process control.  Minimum Skills Required: •  The qualified candidate will have 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in consumer credit risk management. •  Bachelor’s degree in a qualitative field or business. •  Have very strong programming skills in SAS, SQL.  •  Have a solid quantitative background and proven analytical skills.  •  Have strong oral and written communication, and presentation skills. •  Have the ability to effectively organize and manage several projects and have ability to shift priorities as needed. •  Have the ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.  •  Demonstrate strong leadership skills.Previous experience managing a team.   Preferred but not required: •  Master’s degree in statistics, operations research, economics, business or math preferred.     Washington Mutual is an equal opportunity employer.
