Lead Analyst/Manager - Forecasting
Global financial services firm seeks Lead Analyst/Manager - Forecasting in NY office.
Job Purpose:Maintain and operate robust, transparent models to forecast portfolio performance. Reconcile actual performance against forecast performance and enhance models based on improved understanding of performance drivers.The portfolios span multiple credit card brands, unsecured lending and second charge mortgages, and represent the vast majority of the consumer lending business.
Main Accountabilities:Use finance, accounting, analytic and modeling skills to maintain and operate leading edge forecasting models. All key drivers of portfolio risk will be forecast as well as resulting expected impairment charge. Analyze and communicate key reasons for divergences from forecasts. Assist ECM, Underwriting, Policy, and other areas of CRO to define and implement recommendations based on forecasts.
Technical Skills:Analytical ability - well developed analysis skills, evidenced through financial analysis and specific issue analysis. Desire to pro actively keep their own specialist skills and knowledge at leading edge standard in order to fulfill their role. Preferably the individual has a clear understanding and meaningful experience in performing data analysis using a standard statistical package [such as SAS (preferred)], and familiarity with SAP [optional]. Excellent Excel skills, and solid Powerpoint capabilitiesTeam working - enjoys working in cross functional and virtual teamsConceptual thinking - strong strategic thinker with good commercial orientation. Able to see inside complex business problems to the core issuesCommunication - effectively and concisely communicate key facts and issues through correspondences and verbally with minor supervision. Interface with various departments effectively to ensure project deliveryInnovation - able to design and deliver new management information and analysis that supports and enhances forecasts and forecasting processes
Knowledge/Expertise:
PreferredDemonstrated proficiency in using advanced SAS / Excel-based portfolio performance forecasting models. 3-5 years of credit risk analytical experience, including at least 2 years of portfolio analysis or forecasting experience. A self-motivated team player able to define, structure and prioritize work for self, but who also has the flexibility and capability to change priorities when circumstances dictate
Salary: Range $85-130k plus bonus
