J2EE Designer/Sr. Developer

Additional information may be found at www.citigroup.com or www.citi.com Citi Inc. and its subsidiaries ("Citi") are equal opportunity employers M/F/D/V and do not discriminate on the basis of any legally protected status or characteristic.This individual will provide technical leadership for development projects within Real Estate Lending.  The position will involve working with the deliver team, along with onshore/offshore vendors to translate requirements specifications into development Designs.  This is an Application Design role, and will include activities such as high level and detail level software analysis and design, capacity and performance planning, SOA governance, architectural proposals and proof of concepts, and collaboration with the North American Information Chief Technology Office.  This individual will report into the Real Estate Application Design Management team and act as an individual contributor in the development delivery process.   Responsibilities:Develop a thorough understanding of business and functional requirements for Real Estate Lending software projects. Hands on participation in new technology, infrastructure, and application implementation projects. Investigate current and emerging technologies and standard to simplify the existing application environment. Lead or participate in the development of architectural deliverables.  Example deliverables include architectural frameworks, target Designs, strategic technology plan, capital expenditure plans, Design principles and standards, prototypes, implemented and tested design patterns. Provide technical leadership and guidance to the onshore and offshore development teams, to include detail design, code review, and code deployment. Collaborate with other Technical and Solution Architects in the NAIT CTO (Chief Technology Office). Evaluate existing application Designs, recommend roadmap strategies, and determine areas for refactoring opportunities.  The desired skills for this position are:Prefer 5+ years of experience in a senior technical role with focus on distributed technology like Websphere or a similar J2EE application server. Should have a strong understanding of application Designs, system planning, infrastructure, networking, operating systems, and web technology. Experience with J2EE applications, Oracle, real application clustering, deployment models, performance tuning, and software patterns. Experience desired in following areas: Java, Web Services, XML, XSLT, JSPs, Unix, SAN, NAS, Event Driven Design, Object Modeling, Logical Data Modeling, Object to Relational Mapping, Rules Engines, Service Oriented Technologies, Enterprise Service Bus Designs, and Business Process Engines. Very good experience with analysis and design methodologies. Track record in providing technical leadership on development projects, and exposure to distributed teams. Understanding of project management skills including defining requirements, task management, resource allocation, and time management. Communication skills required representing a development team to management if necessary.
