Job DescriptionThe Invest One Core team is looking for a dynamic, self-motivated individual to fill an immediate opportunity.  The candidate will be responsible for support of SunGard's Invest One accounting package and support/development of new functionality built around the core Invest One accounting package.  The requirements are proficiency in COBOL, DB2, VSAM and JCL.  Experience with Focus, Redhat Linux, Weblogic or Microsoft Server is a plus.  In addition to programming and maintaining existing systems, the applicant should have some experience in project management, including preparing documentation according to SDLC requirements.   Fund Administration Systems is the group responsible for maintaining the Invest One accounting system and all the systems and interfaces surrounding it.  The business that we support is fund valuations for all types of publicly traded funds and institutional funds such as 401(k) plans.  These are all high profile funds with strict requirements for quality and timeliness. In addition to supporting the Invest One application and the applications built around it, the successful candidate may be called on from time to time to help on other projects for the team and the division. Knowledge/Skills·  Five+ years experience developing mainframe applications in COBOL.·  Strong mainframe skills: COBOL, DB2, VSAM, JCL, IBM Utilities ·  Experience with SunGard’s Invest One application is a plus.·  Experience with Focus development is a plus·  Experience writing project documentation·  Knowledge or understanding of Redhat Linux, Weblogic or Microsoft Server is a plus·  Detail oriented·  Excellent communication skills ·  Ability to work independently with a minimum of direction.·  Ability to work in a team environment.·  Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities. Major Duties·  Prepare project documentation including requirements, definition, design, estimates, test plans·  Communication with various business areas, outside vendors, consultants and other technical teams regarding automation needs·  Develop or maintain computer programs including designing, coding, testing, debugging and installation as needed.·  Provide technical guidance and can direct project development efforts as needed.·  Assist in production support and troubleshooting efforts as needed. ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have more than 5 years experience developing applications in COBOL, VSAM and DB2.  Experience using JCL to create batch jobs is a requirement.  Working knowledge of Focus, Redhat Linux, Weblogic or Microsoft Server is a definite plus. The ability to effectively translate business requirements into workable systems solutions is critical to this position.  The applicant must be familiar with the SDLC development cycle and have experience creating project documentation.  Experience with trust accounting and/or securities processing is a real plus, as is experience with the Invest One system.  It is important that this person be able to work independently and be able to effectively manage multiple projects.  This person may also be on a rotating firecall list for after-hours support of the division's systems.
