An opportunity currently exists within our Performance Attribution and Risk Management department for an Intermediate Performance & Risk Analyst.

POSITION TITLE:  INTERMEDIATE PERFORMANCE & RISK ANALYST

DEPARTMENT:  PERFORMANCE ATTRIBUTION AND RISK MANAGEMENT - EQUITY

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

- BA/BS in Business field including Finance, Mathematics, Accounting, Statistics or MIS required; coursework in investments preferred

- 2 plus years Mutual Fund/Securities Industry experience required

- Experience with quantitative/financial analysis in a financial services environment or equivalent educational background required

- Strong understanding of equity securities characteristics and mutual funds required

- Investment Research, Performance and Risk Analysis or Fund Accounting experience preferred

- Familiarity with performance attribution and/or risk management principles preferred

- Prior performance analysis and/or risk management experience or familiarity with portfolio composition, concepts, and methods preferred

- Familiarity with Federated equity products preferred

- Strong Excel skills including macro writing required

- Programming experience with VBA/VB preferred

MAJOR DUTIES:

- Responsible for the timely generation, review and analysis of accurate attribution and risk management reports for assigned products

- Reconcile the output from the attribution and risk management systems to reports generated by existing Federated system applications and databases and research/resolve variances on individual securities utilizing research databases and industry sources including Bloomberg, Reuters, etc

- Identify and analyze factors impacting performance and risk and create reports that explain and/or resolve such factors

- Communicate results to Investment Research personnel

- Research and respond to questions/challenges on attribution report statistics as required by the Manager or Investment Research personnel

- Assist in the creation of customized reports for use by Investment Research as well as product marketing and sales personnel in responding to requests for information from clients and potential clients

- Contribute to the risk-efficient implementation of investment ideas in equity portfolios

- Train Investment Research personnel on the use of attribution systems

- Calculate modern portfolio theory statistics for mutual funds and separate accounts and interpret results

- 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. (Overtime as required)

- Position involves significant interaction with Portfolio Managers, Analysts, Portfolio Manager Assistants, and the CIO

- Strong analytical abilities, as well as, oral and written communication skills required

- Must be detail oriented and possess excellent organization skills

- Must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment under time-sensitive deadlines

- Effective presentation skills and ability to interact effectively with all levels of management required

- Familiarity with performance attribution software preferred
