Founded in 1981 as The Terra Financial Companies, Ltd., Genworth Financial Investment Services has a long history of servicing clients through a vast network of over 2,300 Representatives who are independent tax professionals and financial consultants.Responsibilities/Duties:As part of the GFIS IT team, you will be responsible for:- Supporting existing applications and developing new applications that utilize SQL, .Net 2.0/3.0 Framework, VB.Net, ASP.Net, C#, SQL Server Technologies, VB 6.0, Informix 4GL, Informix Dynamic Server, Crystal Reports, Unix, Windows, HTML, JavaScript, VBScript, ASP, XML, TCP/IP, FTP, HTTP, and ODBC.- Supporting requests from all business groups including Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Product Management, Compliance, Accounting, Finance, and Operations.- Working on small and large cross-functional business projects.Basic:- Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive responsibility related to business application software development.- Must have strong programming and overall technical skills.- Experience with traditional Systems Development Life Cycle methodologies.- Strong knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS).- Strong SQL skills.- Educational Requirements:- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Systems or a related field is required.Preferred:- Experience in Financial Service Industry, preferably Broker/Dealer- Masters Degree in Computer Science, MIS, or Information Systems- Experience in Object Oriented programming, Specifically, .Net Framework- Experience in Informix, Unix, SQL Server- Microsoft Certifications like MCSD, MCP- Project Lead or Team Lead experienceStrong analytical and problem solving skills.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.- Proven ability to work independently or on a team as required.- Ability to code and maintain business applications based on business requirements using various programming languages.
