An opportunity has come available for a VMS Framework Developer to join the Core Systems/SCRIP Framework area of our business. Apart from performing the day to day activities involved in ensuring the stability of all of the application development, testing and production environments, this role will also see you maintaining and enhancing the infrastructure software interfaces between the business applications and related sub systems.
The specific responsibilities of this role will include (but not be limited to):
Support the application software and middleware software environment utilized by large scale VMS application system to deliver both real time and batch processing
Monitoring of application software, middleware and integration with various client server architectures to ensure constant improvement in response time and delivery of service and to ensure timely identification and resolution of any issues that arise in the production environment
Develop system design solutions to meet business and functional requirements and ensure that technical systems solutions are cost effective both from a development and ongoing maintainability perspective
Monitor and develop production performance metrics
Ensure the quality assurance processes are followed
Provide first line support in response to production issues and effectively analyse problems to determine the root cause/solution
Work with the Application Development Team leaders to ensure compliance to design standards and to ensure quality

Strong programming and design skills in C
The following skills/experience would be advantageous:
Knowledge or experience of DCL (Digital Command Language) and Open VMS Operating System
Practical experience with the Software Development Life Cycle method
