Position Summary:A Financial Advisor works under general supervision and provides investment consultation to the public on stock, bonds, annuities, other insurance products, mutual funds, and related securities. Responsible for ensuring compliance with laws, regulations and rulings governing products and services provided and the policies and procedures of the Department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:· Assists clients in meeting their financial goals through personalized, in-depth counseling and recommendations of appropriate investments in equity and debt instruments.· Helps to determine proper strategy based on anticipated needs to risk tolerance.· Collects clients’ financial information (including assets, income, debts and other liabilities, cash flow and tax status) and analyzes the information.· Compares and evaluates possible investment options and identifies investment strategies and potential investments based on their knowledge of market conditions and the clients’ particular circumstances.· Oversees all aspects of handling the customer account, from money and securities transfers to verifying the accuracy of statements.· Answers client questions and concerns.· Ensures proper account documentation.· Verifies and monitors client financial condition on a continual basis.· Keeps current on markets and securities. Continually reviews research materials and financial news for areas of opportunity and concern.· Uses current information along with prior knowledge and experience to determine the most appropriate investments for each client.· Works with peers and management throughout the Bank to bring investment services to the Bank’s customers and to interest their clients in the benefits of doing business at the Bank.· Conducts investment seminars for clients and prospects.· Educates and works directly with the Retail Banking staff, supporting and motivating their investment services sales efforts.· Delegates tasks to, reviews the work of, and trains the Planning Assistant.· Deliver accurate, responsive and courteous customer service to every customer (internal & external) every time.· Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS:Education:· Bachelor’s degree with concentration in finance, business administration or related field or equivalent relevant experience.· Series 7 and state insurance licenses required. (Series 6 license may be alternative to 7, depending on experience).Experience:· Minimum two years experience in a Financial Services environment with successful sales production. Knowledge, skill and abilities:· Thorough knowledge of pertinent securities markets, investment vehicles and insurance planning.· PC literate with proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel (or other database reporting programs) and investment and securities software.· Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communications skills.· Excellent customer relations and sales skills.· Good organizational skills.· Detail oriented.· Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet related deadlines.· Ability to read and interpret financial statements and documents.· Ability to travel weekly to the branches/territory to which assigned and to periodic monthly meetings/seminars off-site.
