Due Diligence Analyst III

Location: SAINT PETERSBURG, FL Reference Code: 0800621 Job Summary: Under limited direction, uses specialized knowledge and skills obtained through experience, specialized training or certification to work directly with the Due Diligence Officers and lead the Analyst team as a member of the manager research team of AMS.  Will communicate daily with outside investment managers, the Asset Management Services (AMS) sales force and the Financial Advisors.  The main focus is to perform complete and thorough due diligence on the current and potential Raymond James Consulting Services (RJCS) investment managers and Freedom (mutual fund) managers.  Leads defined work or projects of moderate scope and complexity.  Extensive contact with internal and external customers is required to obtain, clarify, and provide facts and information.    Essential Duties and Responsibilities: · Leads departmental teams to provide job related input to ensure all relevant information is considered. · Administers the "A Closer Look", the Due Diligence booklet of RJCS manager portfolio characteristics and performance reports, published on a quarterly basis. · Hosts conference calls and meets with portfolio managers and analysts concerning investment processes and products. · Generates creative new projects from Excel, Access, Word, Informa PSN, FactSet, Callan, Morningstar, and Mercer. · Reviews, evaluates and implements process improvements as appropriate. · Interprets investment performance, with thorough knowledge of all performance formulas, calculations, and understanding of CFA/GIPS and SEC Compliance. · Leads and trains the analytical aspects of the job while working with the other Due Diligence Analysts, the Officers, and the Director in a team atmosphere with often little supervision. · Maintains numerous spreadsheets and databases related to portfolio analysis. · Handles spontaneous requests for immediate projects and also investment performance-type questions from AMS Sales Team and Financial Advisors. · Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of: · Advanced concepts, practices, and procedures of Due Diligence. · Advanced investment concepts, practices and procedures used in the securities industry. · Financial markets and products. · Quantitative and qualitative understanding of the investment management business and performance measurement.    Skill in: · Interviewing; including proper and thorough preparation. · Performance calculations. · Analyzing financial information. · Operating standard office equipment and using required software application to produce correspondence, reports, electronic communication, and spreadsheets.   Ability to: · Produce accurate information on products and projects. · Exhibit excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as this position will be a contact point for Financial Advisors who wish to talk in detail about all aspects of AMS and specifics about investment managers and performance reporting. · Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment. · Attend to detail while maintaining the big picture orientation. · Read, interpret, analyze and apply information from professional publications · Meet many deadlines to provide quarterly and monthly data to internal associates and external Financial Advisors. · Communicate, lead, and train other associates. · Facilitate meetings, ensuring that all viewpoints, ideas and problems are addressed. · Work independently, make non-routine decisions and resolve moderately complex problems. · Promote team cohesiveness, cooperation and effectiveness.   Educational/Previous Experience Requirements: · Bachelor's Degree (B.A.) in related field and a minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of experience at a broker/dealer or investment firm. ~or~ · Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources.   Licenses/Certifications: · Series 7 · CFA II Additional Information: Travel Percentage: 25% About us We take pride in providing innovative, individual financial planning and investment alternatives to a discriminating client base.
