DBA/Database Architect

Job Description:

 

The DBA/Database Architect is responsible for the development, test, rollout and support of Litle’s database systems.  You will work as an integral part of Litle’s architecture team, being the “go-to” person for our new reporting and data warehousing systems.

 

Responsibilities:

 Work with the Chief Architect and Engineering team to oversee the design of critical areas of the data modelProvide support and mentorship to engineers in all aspects of logical database design, creating and tuning queries, etc.Work with Architecture and Engineering team to create logical design and ETL strategies for our reporting databasesDesign and implement database solutions to architectural goals, such as:Designing and building of a data warehouse/reporting database, second site replication, 10x growth in volumeWork with the Chief Architect in prototyping solutions to different architectural problemsWork with Infrastructure on hardware purchasing strategies to help us grow the database architectureWork with Infrastructure, Architecture, and Engineering to identify and correct performance and scalability problems in the production databasesOwn the “care and feeding” aspect of the production databases – performance monitoring, re-orgs, efficient back-up strategy, updating index statistics, etc.Tune the production database, and work with infrastructure to best utilize available hardware

 

Requirements:

 Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience5+ years experience in database design/architecture5+ years experience with Data Warehousing and reporting techniques5+ years DBA experience in a DB2/Unix/Linux environmentExcellent SQL and Logical design skills
