Collections Representative I

Harley-Davidson Financial Services (HDFS), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Harley-Davidson, Inc., offers a wide range of financial products and services to motorcycle enthusiasts and Harley-Davidson dealerships. Products available to consumers include financing on motorcycles, MotorClothes™, and parts and accessories; cycle insurance; and extended service plans for Harley-Davidson® motorcycles. HDFS manages over $2.2 billion in customer and dealer loans.

We are currently seeking a Collections Representative I to join our Servicing Department.  Under direct supervision the Collections Representative is responsible for collection delinquent accounts by phone or correspondence.  Uses computerized system for tracking, information gathering, and/or troubleshooting.  The Collections Representative answers basic inquiries or resolve problems by following routine procedures and processes. 

 

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Responsible for collecting on assigned delinquent accounts by telephone, or correspondence if necessary.

· Assigns accounts to agencies for repossession, skip-tracing, or in-person collection activity as approved by teams point person.

· Assigned the authority to assign accounts to Adjustment Queue for extensions, payment re-allocations, or fee/balance waivers if applicable.

· Understands and adheres to company collection and extension policies, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and company confidentiality and privacy issues.

· Uses effective time management to ensure customer service experience is satisfactory and meets expectations

· Ensures that all steps necessary are taken to protect the interest of Harley-Davidson Financial Services.

· Performs additional duties as requested

· Responsible for protecting employees, customers and corporate information.  Follows established physical, electronic and procedural safeguards, including policies regarding data protection, segregation of duties, use of passwords, and access to information based solely on business need.  In addition, any company-proprietary information (including but not limited to customer information) may not be transferred or transported outside of HDFS by employees upon leaving the company.

· Maintains a current awareness and understanding of appropriate banking laws, regulations, internal policies and procedures, and to comply fully with those laws, regulations, policies and procedures.

 

Job Requirements:

· High School Diploma

· Previous collection experience in consumer finance environment preferred

· Good telephone communication skills

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Proven problem-solving and decision-making ability

· Ability to work in a fast paced environment

· PC Literate

· Typing 20-30 WPM

· Well-organized and proven attention to detail

· Demonstrated ability to take the initiative and achieve results in a fast-paced and changing environment

· Strong teamwork skills and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff
