Cognos Administrator

As a member of the Product Development team, you will be responsible for further developing a Web-based B2B payment system using cutting edge technologies in a 3-tiered architecture structure. You will be managing the entire product development lifecycle in the delivery of innovative capabilities. You will have opportunities to gain large project experience and learn a variety of software and financial applications that are both unique and challenging. This position gives an opportunity to work on a system that deals with billions of dollars of payments, across thousands of companies and tens of thousands of users.   Supports database applications including user consultation, training and support.  Designs and creates physical databases and resolves operational issues.  Determines user access and assists with security procedures and capacity planning. Participates in project planning activities and provides time estimates for tasks and deliverables.  Provides on-call support.   The day to day responsibilities include,   Perform Infrastructure troubleshooting for reported issues   Monitor SLA and fix outages to meet SLAs   Coordinate fixes with ETL team, Cognos team or DBA on need basis for tool set issues   Participate in migration process to production   Work with super users and database administrators to troubleshoot and resolve production issues   Write Linux commands to support trouble shooting needs   Perform system testing when changes are implemented.   Coordinate system maintenance with super users   Upgrade of software on a need to do basis  Your Career is Here. Basic Qualifications - Five or more years of experience with database management systems - Eight or more years of experience in specific database management systems   Preferred Skills/Experience - Working knowledge of functional and technical design, programming, query tools and testing components of application development - Thorough knowledge of database management systems including experience with design, analysis, debugging, performance characteristics and recovery activities - Thorough knowledge of logical data modeling tools, IMS, DB2, SYBASE, Oracle, and supportive software - In-depth knowledge of applications methodology, technical design functions and assigned database system capabilities and administration activities - Strong project management skills - Strong planning and organizational skills - Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills - At least 5 years experience in performing administrative activities in DW/BI platform using tools like Informatica & Cognos and databases like DB2 or Teradata or Oracle on Unix/Linux/ Windows platforms - Knowledge & Hands-on experience in Installation & configuration of Cognos and Informatica tool sets.
