Claims Analyst

Overview:
Review, evaluate and process in an appropriate manner high-volume 1st lien mortgage primary insurance claims to assure timely and accurate payment for customer service purposes.
Responsibilities include a focus on the identification of loss mitigation opportunities stemming from
servicing deficiencies, compliance, fraud and post-sale information.

Responsibilities:
1. Pay claims in an accurate and timely manner:
-Validate and analyze claim information to determine an appropriate settlement amount
-Follow up for information and/or documentation needed to settle the claim;
-Review and process supplemental claims;
-Respond to and answer or resolve customer written or telephone inquiries and issues

2. Pursue activities needed to mitigate loss:
-Respond to or pursue post-foreclosure sale (pre-claim payment) opportunities that influence (reduce) the claim payment
-Identify and resolve timeline issues (adjust claim)
-Identify and refer to management servicing deficiency cases for possible adjustment for harm incurred
-Identify and refer Quality Assurance/ Compliance issues for additional review and possible rescission

3. Maintain client relationships from a customer service perspective (includes handling of pre-claim default-related inquiries such as Master Policy explanations, bidding instructions, claim filing questions, etc.)

4. Prepare and maintain various reports to effectively manage assigned lenders

5. Assist Claims Management with special projects as needed to effectively manage the business

Qualifications:

Education: Associates Degree preferred

Experience: 3-5 years

Skills:
1. Thorough understanding of mortgage default-related processes, including collections, foreclosure, bankruptcy and REO (HUD-1 analysis).

2. Good analytical and decision-making skills

3. Working knowledge of e-mail (preferably Outlook), Word, Excel and Access applications.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills

5. Ability to meet deadlines as needed in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
