Chief Financial Officer
Position Overview The chief financial officer is responsible for maintaining financial viability and all related fiscal functions for the organization including back and front end business office, patient financial accounting, investments, cash flow, strategic planning, financial systems, reporting, auditing and regulatory compliance for both acute-care, as well as skilled–care patients. The CFO reports directly to the CEO and is accountable for approximately 7 FTEs with the assistance of an IT director, Clinic Manager, and the business office manager. This position offers the potential for advancement into the CEO role. Qualified candidates will be bachelor’s prepared with a background in healthcare financial management and familiarity with governmental reimbursement, including swing bed and skilled nursing regulations. A solid working knowledge of all aspects of the finance area including information technology, investments which are handled through an outsourced vendor, payer systems and regulations, as well as financial reporting both internally and externally is desired. The ability to teach working department managers how to create and manage budgets and communicate effectively with individuals from clinical staff to the board members is a plus.Hospital Overview This is a 27-bed, acute and long term care hospital, offering services in general medicine and surgery, cardiac intensive care, obstetrics, and emergency care. Owned by the city of Petersburg, the medical center is a charter member of the Alaska Small Hospital Performance Improvement Network and the Alaska State Hospital and Nursing Home Association. Expansion plans for the future include a $1million clinic expansion, renovation of the PT services and recruitment for an additional primary care physician are in progress.
