Job Description: 

Reporting to the President & Chief Investment Officer of Voyageur Asset Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary of RBC Capital Markets Holdings (USA) Inc., and working with key staff members across the asset management organization, this position will formulate and assist in the successful execution of a U.S. Liability Drive Investments (LDI) strategy. This individual will be responsible for the development, promotion and maintenance of the U.S. LDI business including building market profile for Voyageur's LDI capabilities and identifying new products and necessary market-facing resources to be successful.


Requirements:  Basic Qualifications: B.A./B.S. in Finance, Economics, Business Administration or other related degree or equivalent work experience in lieu of a degree and a minimum 7-10 years of combined actuarial, pension plan and investment management experience Demonstrated pension expertise including ERISA, IRC regulations and FASB/IASB accounting standards Proven understanding and experience with investment products and services specifically in the fixed income sector Established ability to influence decision-making in a group setting Excellent oral and written communication skills with a demonstrated interest and ability to lead public speaking engagements and produce research papers or other articles Strong client service orientation preferably with some previous on-going client relationships Demonstrated business development/sale experience through an entrepreneurial spirit as well as being motivated by a desire to build and shape a business Must be a self-starter and possess ability to work independently as well as part of a team Ability to travel significantly

Preferred: MBA CFA designation FSA actuarial designation


Key Accountabilities:  Major Job Accountabilities: This position is responsible for building the U.S. LDI business through the following accountabilities: Working with senior management to develop a growth strategy for the firm's LDI business in the U.S. Partnering with portfolio management and consultant relations team to gain access to and build credibility for the firm's LDI capabilities in the actuarial and investment consulting community Fostering the firm's reputation for LDI thought leadership and client service by demonstrating an unmatched level of understanding of the actuarial and investment issues faced by plan sponsors and developing practical investment solutions that address the associated challenges Increasing the firm's profile in the relevant plan sponsor communities through speaking engagements, developing research papers, nurturing direct client and prospect relationships and other initiatives as appropriate Collaborating with the portfolio management team to identify opportunities to implement LDI solutions with the firm's existing client base Identifying and developing investment products to foster the development and growth of the firm's LDI business Developing and maintaining a strong understanding of the firm's primary competitors, their capabilities and competitive stances with in the LDI business segment Remaining current on regulatory and other changes impacting the accounting for and funding of pension plan liabilities and take an active role in distributing this expertise to fixed income and other colleagues within the firm Serving as portfolio manager for the firm's LDI clients and work with the LDI investment managers to develop fixed income market knowledge Developing processes and prodecures on all aspects of the business including formal documentation of all communications in VISION or other systems Working with investment managers, portfolio administration and systems staff to develop high end client materials, reports, summaries of service, portfolio holdings and performance Participating in all relevant conferences when appropriate Supporting and implementing all client service initiatives, policies and procedures
