Billing & Collections Specialist - New York
RiskMetrics is looking for a billing and collections specialist to join our Finance Group. This position is a new opening as a result of growth. The duties and responsibilities for this position are outlined below:
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Preparation and distribution of client invoices
· Ensure compliance and application of sales tax on invoices
· Review sales contracts associated with invoices to ensure accuracy of information and appropriateness of
accounting treatment
· Lead collection of outstanding invoices through coordination with clients, sales representatives and
account management
· Review and analyze aging reports to ascertain problem accounts for resolution
· Maintain detail explanation on all past due receivables and distribute weekly to Sales and Sr Mgmt
· Track non-paying clients and make recommendations to management to discontinue services when appropriate
· Set up of service contract in deferred revenue module of accounting system for revenue recognition
· Prepare monthly AR roll forward
· Maintain average DSO
· Maintain detailed spreadsheet of unbilled receivables
· Prepare monthly AR trending schedule
Requirements:
· Minimum high school diploma or equivalent; 2+ years college preferred
· 3+ years of relevant billing experience in a financial or professional services environment required
· Experience with deferred revenue and/or contract revenue recognition strongly preferred
· Strong oral and written communication skills
· Must be organized and detail oriented
· Must have good computer skills & proficient with Excel
