Status Full Time, EmployeeLocation Baltimore, MD 21201City Position is Located Baltimore Job Category Business/Strategic ManagementEducation Bachelor's DegreeReference Code PCK505-210826 Position Category: OperationsPosition Title: Analyst - CAVSJob Level: AnalystLocation: USA - MD - BaltimoreEducation Required: Bachelors DegreePosition Description:The global Corporate Action Validation Service (CAVS) team performs research and provides timely, accurate, and comprehensive information on corporate action announcements worldwide.The responsibilities of the Analyst include but are not limited to the following• Validate full range of international corporate actions, from simple events such as Cash Dividend and Returns of Capital, to more complex events like Mergers and Optional Exchanges.• Monitor and fully understand complete flow of vendor data.• Review and understand announcement details requiring validation.• Research, resolve conflicts, locate missing information within specified timeframes utilizing external and internal data sources. • Add new announcements and update with comprehensive terms as necessary.• Reconcile internal data with external Custodian information.• Master Fidelity’s intricate announcement validation system, ActionSource.• Extensive interaction with various departments including international Position Services groups, Prime Brokerage and Controllers via outbound and inbound emails and the telephone.• Field high volume of diverse inquiries from various consumers (business units) of CAVS data.• Interface with external corporate action data providers.• Participate in system testing and respond to ongoing demands for increased coverage and service.The department primarily supports the Institutional Equity Division and the Fixed Income Division. Products supported include but are not limited to Equities and Fixed Income Products.Experience & Skills Required or to be Developed: • Proficiency in navigating internet and web-based applications. • Interpret wide range of reference materials. Utilization of 3rd party information providers interfaces (e.g. Xcitek, Bloomberg, SWIFT, etc.), as well as those of Agents and Exchange. • Excellent problem solving skills• Detail-oriented, maintains accurate and complete records• Strong organizational skills • Learns quickly and displays adaptability• Shows initiative, is self motivated and also works well with a team• Proficient written and verbal communications skills • Write technical documents, business specs, test plans and scripts The Role in Detail• Maintain accurate, detailed, and complete corporate action rule documentation. • Be aware of and escalate market changes to manager and team members.• Understand critical product relationships (ISIN sharing, Dual Listed & Dual Settle products, etc.)• Understand methodology of vendor mapping and impact on ActionSource and department processes.• Using knowledge of product relationships and vendor mapping rules, resolve complex validation issues (ex. Announcements incorrectly created under resultant securities by automated vendors, etc.)• Maintain updated work queue reports / Determine appropriate “Tickler Dates” (next researched dates) for announcements assigned.• Keep announcements in good standing meeting SLA standards (Service Level Agreement).• Communicate accurate assessment of announcement data quality by placing announcements into appropriate statuses (ex. Researched, Reviewed, Confirmed, Cancelled, etc.) • Develop understanding of various downstream client applications and troubleshoot system related issues.• Understand critical corporate action ratios and calculations (ex. Converting a Stock Split ratio into a Stock Dividend and vice versa, calculate stock price for Cash/stock Options and Foreign Dividend Reinvestments, understand impact of Change in Par Values on Forward and Reverse Stock Splits, etc.)• Exercise due diligence in evaluating vendor data quality (ex. Single-sourcing with approved data providers, evaluating third party data).• Understand the methodology and purpose of each corporate action type, how to handle exceptions and impact on various processes of various business units.• Develop ability to identify invalid, erroneous and illogical announcement data.• Follow department audit trail procedures and validation best practices (pertaining to isolating duplicates, announcement cancellations, blanking out data, adjusting key dates, etc.).• Train on multiple desks to assist during team vacations.• Regularly present ideas on process improvements to manager.Skills Required:• A passion for business process improvement• Knowledge of Equity or Fixed Income products• Ability to build and maintain multiple long distance relationships • Team-player• Clear English language communicator – particularly by phone and e-mail Skills Desired:Proven experience with• handling financial products• working with colleagues overseasis preferred..
