Actuarial Analyst

Provide technical support to the actuarial department, including preparation of reports and spreadsheets, maintenance of actuarial records and databases, and assistance with projects. Assist in financial reporting. Provide assistance in maintenance of PolySystems files.

1. Produce monthly financial reports on a timely and accurate basis (25%)
2. Develop understanding and expertise in actuarial concepts and apply them in establishment, maintenance, and analysis of actuarial models with focus on Polysystems and Fixed Indexed Annuities.(20%)
3. Develop improvements in financial reporting processes (15%)
4. Produce additional annual reports (blue book, rating agencies, tax reserves, etc.). (10%)
5. Document financial reporting and other project work. (5%)
6. Cross train to be familiar with and assist as needed on financial reporting for blocks that are not a regular responsibility. (5%)
7. Manage and test software upgrades so that financial reporting processes are not negatively affected (5%)

Associated Duties:
1. Develop leadership skills.
2. Pursue Associate, Society of Actuaries and Fellow, Society of Actuaries designations through exam success and seminar attendance.
3. Develop and prepare complex statistical reports as needed, with limited direction
4. Be familiar with product information and complex actuarial concepts
5. Assist with special projects

Bachelor’s Degree in Math,Actuarial Science, or Statistics
High GPA in major

• 4 years of responsible experience in actuarial or financial work
• Proficient experience with spreadsheets and database applications, including programming skills
• Knowledge of GAAP and STAT accounting and insurance concepts
• Understanding of insurance company operations
• 1-4 Society of Actuaries exams

Technological Knowledge:
• Microsoft Excel – intermediate
• Polysystems - beginner
