Responsibilities:
- Validates and maintains the accuracy of financial and operational data in the financial systems supporting profitability / MIS reporting and analysis (Business Objects / FMIS, Hyperion Essbase). Leverages available technologies to develop and maintain various reports and analysis to support profitability and MIS functions.
- Performs varied work assignments independently with minimal supervision. Conducts moderately complex financial analysis projects with the ability to interpret results.
- Brings inconsistencies and problems to the attention of management and suggests potential solutions. May lead projects in support of departmental goals
- Reviews daily reconciling entries between operational data and accounting groups (GL) in the Financial MIS application to ensure they meet established variance thresholds for materiality. Develops and maintains Business Objects queries and reports to support the validation process. Maintains documentation on daily exceptions. Researches and communicates exceptions and works closely with Financial MIS System Administrator and technical support team to resolve issues
- Uses technology (Business Objects, Excel, Access, SQL) to develop and maintain various production management reporting and extracts. Interprets reporting requirements as provided by Corporate, local finance management and business lines. Creates complex queries and calculations in Business Objects to support reporting requirements.
- Works closely with other accounting and finance members, operational areas and various business line finance managers to ensure accuracy and consistency of management reporting. Acts as business unit expert on Business Objects reporting tool, provides training and support to other system users. Develops ad-hoc queries and reports to support data analysis, as needed.
- Maintains organization, account and other dimension structures / members through automated and manual routines. Maintains external Access databases, SQL queries, Knowledgeshare queries that support the monthly data processes. Accurately maintains the product mappings and customization for the operational source applications in Financial MIS application for product changes and new products. Develops supporting queries and reports using Business Objects. Maintains related external reference materials and documentation
- Responsible for the validation and transfer of data files from various operational sources to Financial MIS/ Business Objects application in support of various functions .
- Ensures that operational files are received on a timely basis, validated and loaded into the application by established deadlines. Reviews operational files for completeness of data records, reconciles operational data files to various operational source reports using various tools (Excel, Knowledgeshare, Access). Executes transformation routines to ensure consistency of monthly operational and financial data and dimensions. Establishes and maintains a working relationship with business lines to resolve issues related to incomplete or inaccurate data.
- Represents finance on data refinement projects and supports system transformation projects.
Required Qualifications:
- 4 yr Bachelor's degree with major in Accounting, Finance, Management Information Systems or a related discipline
- Minimum of five years of relative job experience
- Business Objects experience required
- Advanced spreadsheet and database skills (Excel, SQL, Access, KnowledgeShare/BRIO/Intelligence)
- Prior Hyperion Essbase experience strongly preferred
- Proven ability to incorporate and leverage technology to improve business processes
- Understanding of bank accounting (BS,IS, particularly loan and deposit products) preferred
- Experience with general ledger and operational interfaces preferred
- Excellent communications and organizational skills
- Excellent math and analytical skills
