The Opportunity

 

Bailard is seeking a high-potential CPA who is prepared to take command of the accounting function for our multi-entity, privately-held corporation.  If you are an energetic hands-on self-starter looking for a platform for continuing professional growth, this is an opportunity to make a high-visibility contribution in a collegial, open-door environment. 

 

The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of GAAP and strong computer skills.  You will bring expertise based on your auditing work at a CPA firm working with smaller organizations similar to ours, and possibly experience in a similar capacity at another organization.  You will learn about our products, work closely with executive management, and support other general financial analyses and needs as required.  This position reports directly to the CFO. 

 

 

Key Duties Full hands-on command of the general ledger and monthly closing procedures Produce consolidated monthly and quarterly reports and analyses timely for senior management review and discussion as well as for the Board of Directors Facilitate and manage external audit and tax return preparation for our corporate entities and private investment funds Perform monthly reconciliations of cash, accrued expenses, and prepaid expenses. Forecast revenue and manage the annual budgeting process Design and perform various internal audits Track and calculate restricted stock compensation expense in accordance with FAS 123R Perform monthly review and approval of expenses and trial balances for private investment funds Consult on a variety of topics for management and other professionals throughout the firm Oversee and back up administrative staff recording A/P and A/R Sophisticated use of Excel required for special projects and analyses as needed

 

 

Qualifications

 

This role requires a keen attention to detail and outstanding organizational and time management skills, as well as the initiative to take on a variety of projects and carry them through to completion.  You must be able to work independently, involve others as needed, develop good relationships with your internal and external contacts, and communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. 

  Bachelor’s Degree and CPA required, MBA a plus 4-6 years of experience auditing or Accounting Manager experience in similar environment  Comprehensive understanding of GAAP Comfort with technology, outstanding Excel skills, and an aptitude for learning new applications quickly Familiarity with a G/L accounting system preferred Demonstrated analytical ability, maturity and judgment The capacity to work effectively and efficiently on multiple projects simultaneously. Some exposure to tax preparation and related concepts

Compensation: $90,000 - $140,000
