AP Associate Manager

The Accounts Payable Associate Manager will be responsible for day-to-day oversight and direction of the Accounts Payable’s customer service, reporting, auditing and training functions. In addition, the Associate Manager will work closely with the AP Manager to maintain acceptable service levels for AP functions.  Candidate should be a proven team leader with a strong work ethic focusing on customer service. The Associate Manager will be responsible for: (1) developing processes and procedures to ensure all customer service tasks and issues are resolved timely and efficiently, (2) actively monitoring the efficiency and accuracy of direct reports, (3) analyzing departmental metrics and ensuring that they are accurate and they are published within the specified time line, (4) developing and maintaining all AP reports, (5) working closely with other AP supervisors, Area Controllers, and accounting staff to resolve the complicated accounting issues around month end close and the monthly accrual, (6) handling all performance management issues; to include employee development, corrective action, etc., (7) all technical training and development activities within the AP dept (8) leading process optimization and standardization initiatives within AP (9) establishing and maintaining process documentation (10) internal audit functions within AP (11) other duties and projects as assigned. Responsibilities for Personnel The Associate Manager will be responsible for reviewing work and assigning day-to-day tasks for approximately 10-15 individuals.  As well as managing the team by addressing all business related conflicts and concerns. Principal Contacts The Associate Manager will work closely with and for the AP Manager. In addition, the Associate Manager will be a primary AP contact point for the accounting group, the Area Controllers and corresponding accounting staff to assist in month-end close and ongoing inquiries. As necessary, the Associate Manager will be involved in communication with and relationship management of key suppliers. Accountability The Associate Manager will be responsible for meeting or exceeding performance metrics established by the AP Manager in the AP Service Level Agreements. Knowledge and Skill Requirements Education – required to possess a bachelor degree in Accounting. Experience – required to have a minimum of 5 years of related experience. Additionally, 3 of those years should be in a supervisory role overseeing 5 or more people, preferably in a Shared Services environment. Experience with JDE Edwards, BPCS, or Ross Rams systems as well as workflow and content management is a plus. The aforementioned experience may come from a multitude of sources, with preference given to experience in a fast-paced consumer products, manufacturing, food service, or a public accounting background.
