ADVENT GENEVA DATABASE DEVELOPER AND BUSINESS ANALYST
Multi-Billion Dollar Asset Management Firm in Century City has exciting 6+ Month Contract positions open for an experienced Advent Geneva Database Developer and Business Analyst.
SENIOR DATABASE DEVELOPER
Responsibility:
- Design and development of various investment related applications and reports
- Provide guidance to more junior developers through code reviews and sharing of best practices
- Comply with the Software Development Life-Cycle and project methodology
- Participate in project meetings to understand application and database requirements
- Provide after hours support as required
- Work with Business Analysts and/or Directly with Users to Gather Specifications
- Write Pre-Development Technical Specifications
- Debug and Repair Existing Applications/Reports
- Ability to Provide Creative Solutions Based on Past Experience that may serve the company better
- Write Post-Development Technical Documentation
- Assist with QA in Developing Test Scripts
- Adhere to policies and procedures set out by the department
Experience and Skills Required:
- 7+ years experience SQL developer using SQL Server 2000 and/or 2005
- A minimum of 3 years experience in the Investment Management, Private Equity or Hedge Fund environment required
- BS in Computer Science, MCSD certified or equivalent experience
- Experience with one or more of the following products is required: Eagle/PACE, CDOSuite, BB POMS, Advent Geneva, Sungard Investtran, Wall Street Office
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Team-oriented work ethic that includes willingness to help others
- Able to work independently and share results of assigned projects with team members
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment
Technical Skills - Required:
- In depth knowledge of SQL Server; has worked with/exposure to new features of SQL Server 2000 and 2005.
- Expert SQL development skills; must be able to write complex queries.
- Expert level abilities with performance tuning of queries.
- Expert level abilities with development of stored procedures, triggers, views, cursors, indexes, bulk data changes, etc.
- Experience with design work (logical design).
- Expert knowledge of normalization.
- Knowledge of/exposure to financial systems including: compliance, portfolio accounting, risk reporting, market data, performance attribution.
- Makes recommendations regarding configuration and/or the purchase of additional hardware to improve performance.
- Makes appropriate recommendations regarding the purchase of new tuning, monitoring and documentation tools.
- Creates reliable release scripts for migration of code/changes to production environments.
- Assists DBA with administration tasks when required.

BUSINESS ANALYST, SR.
Position Responsibilities:
* Act as the primary expert in all systems used by assigned functional group; leverage this knowledge to assist in researching issues, designing workflow for new products
* Work closely with technology and business user staff to complete workflow improvement and research projects
* Document functional specifications for systems and workflow changes
* Execute testing of all internal and external systems upgrades or enhancements
* Evaluate other systems available in the market and provide comprehensive comparative analysis
* Assist with system upgrade planning
* Be aware of industry initiatives and upcoming standards and apply them .
* Lead small projects to completion within budget and time schedule
* Create test plans and scripts and facilitate the SDLC process

* Minimum five years of investment management operations experience
* Strong fixed-income product knowledge, particularly bank loans, CLO*s, CDO*s variable rates securities
* Hedge fund or private equity experience is a plus
Computer Skills:
* Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel * knowledge of formulae a must (e.g.
* *vlookup*)
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Powerpoint, Visio
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or other databases a plus
* Basic knowledge of Bloomberg
* Portia, CDO Suite and Bloomberg Trading System experience is a plus
