Senior Network Engineer

Sony Online Entertainment Inc. (SOE) produces and distributes online entertainment targeted to mainstream consumers and game enthusiasts. SOE also operates several other prominent web platforms for other divisions of Sony as part of a managed hosting operation.

Primary Responsibilities:

A Network Engineer is responsible for configuration, deployment, and life-cycle maintenance of networking hardware and supporting infrastructure for SOE services worldwide.

The Network Engineer is heavily involved in high level architecture and design. The candidate must have demonstrated experience in the operation and upkeep of complex, scalable, highly available networked infrastructure.

Requirements:

• A minimum experience of 5 years demonstrating the planning and roll-out of associated infrastructure in an enterprise environment, including architecture, configuration, security, monitoring, and network performance tuning.
• Must demonstrate experience with high-end Cisco routers and switching devices.
• Experience with diverse network architecture, VLANS, routing, HA concepts, routing protocols.
• In-depth knowledge of TCP/IP fundamentals (including Layers 2, 4 - 7 content switching).
• Working knowledge of Internet networking concepts (DNS, SMTP, FTP, HTTP, NTP, and TLD registrars).
• Experience managing global infrastructure in 24x7 co-located environments.
• Must be willing to participate in on-call rotation (escalations).
• Must be willing to travel to domestic and international datacenter locations.
• Understanding of best practices concepts, change management, SLAs, policies, procedures, and design review driven standards.
• Knowledge of encryption and key management concepts and protocols (IPSec, PKI, PGP, SSL).
• Expertise with firewall and packet-filtering tools such as IP Filter, IP Tables, IP Chains, and application proxies.
• Expertise in Layer 2/3 traffic analysis, anomaly detection tools and techniques.
• Full understanding of tunneling/VPN technologies, tools, implementations and protocols.
• Must have inherent knowledge of scripting & shell applications such as Perl or Bash.
