Program Manager

The Company:Ticketmaster is the world's leading ticketing company, operating in 20 global markets, providing ticket sales, ticket resale services, marketing and distribution through www.ticketmaster.com, one of the largest e-commerce sites on the Internet; approximately 6,500 retail outlets; and 20 worldwide call centers.  Ticketmaster celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2006 and currently serves more than 9,000 clients worldwide across multiple event categories, providing exclusive ticketing services for hundreds of leading arenas, stadiums, performing arts venues, museums, and theaters.  In 2006, the company sold more than 128 million tickets valued at over $7 billion on behalf of its clients. Ticketmaster is headquartered in West Hollywood, California and is an operating business of IAC (NASDAQ: IACI). Position Purpose: A Program Manager is responsible for helping to define new Ticketmaster.com products by working with the Product Management, Engineering and Operations teams to define, develop, test and launch these products across the organization. Specific tasks on each project will include authoring functional requirements, developing project plans and schedules, managing tasks and teams on the project's critical path, defining and testing usability, and identifying and resolving issues.  It is essential that the Program Manager understands the scope and effect of all new or upgraded products, solicits input from all constituents, and involves all appropriate teams.  Program Management works closely with every facet of the product and with every part of the organization. We are considering both seasoned program managers and those who are relatively new to program management looking for a place to grow. Regardless, we expect both seasoned and new PM's to have work-related exposure to managing the development cycle for web systems (ideally, although other forms of software development will be considered). Strong technical skills as outlined in the Requirements below are highly valuable but the technology side of our business can be taught on the job. Areas where we would expect to see the greatest distinction between a candidate with extensive experience and a person looking to grow in the field are: 1). Documentation skills and specific experience writing complex technical specs.2). Exposure to working within a very large web-development environment. We would expect some exposure, but perhaps not on a nationally recognized web presence level. Organizational Culture: Ticketmaster is a fast growth company. Candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, ever changing, entrepreneurial environment. Individual must be able to work independently as well as collaboratively. Must be resourceful and be able to understand the full breadth of how the company works together. Individual must be a creative thinker, confident and able to express ideas in an articulate, well thought out manner. Ability to multi-task and prioritize deadlines is a must. Requirements: Bachelors degree or equivalent degree required. Demonstrated technical project management skills. Successful track record in working with business and technology teams to define, develop, test and launch new products. Must be able to present specific examples where your role required the ability work between technical and management teams. Experience in authoring business and technical requirements. Strong writing and documentation skills are a necessity. Must have some experience writing formal technical specifications (i.e., walkthroughs, data flows, architectural diagrams, etc.). Applicant should be a functional web technology generalist without a strong adherence to a specific platform. Intellectual Innate capability to create order out of chaos. Proven problem-solving skills. Demonstrated ability to think out of the box and generate creative solutions. Interpersonal Flexibility that allows effective teamwork with people at all levels of the organization. Proven ability to communicate effectively with both business people and software engineers. Ability to negotiate for competing resources and to generate consensus among multiple priorities. Very good communication skills are a necessity for this role. Motivation Desire to work in fast-paced, multi-tasking, fluid environment with ever-changing priorities. Interest in staying involved with fast-changing Internet technologies and tools. Demonstrated desire to do whatever it takes to get things done. Technical Proven experience with unix/linux-based software development is ideal. The ideal candidate will have some actual coding experience and abilities, but prefers to see the larger picture and pull together projects. A working knowledge of SQL is expected. Must be able to see a problem in a table and retrieve the data without assistance. While you will work closely with the DBA group, the program manager is expected to be technical enough to track down the source of potential issues. Experience with HTML and other web technologies. Again, a technical understanding of how multi-tiered websites are created, the interaction between the various groups and technologies involved in the process, and the ability to see the larger picture are critical. We are pragmatic with our tools and technologies but a foundation in open-source development is a plus. KW-PGM-WH-072908  Job Title: Program ManagerCompany: TicketmasterStatus: Full Time, EmployeeLocation: West Hollywood, CA 90069Job Category: Project/Program ManagementCompany: TicketmasterEmail: Apply by EmailJob Reference Code: KW-PGM-WH-072908
