Manager, Employee Relations
The Chicago Zoological Society, located ½ south of Chicago, is seeking an experienced Manager of Employee Relations to be part of the HR management team. The Society, a $50 million+ non-profit organization, manages Brookfield Zoo, one of the largest zoos in the country serving over 2 million visitors each year. A talented staff of 425 full-time and 1,200 seasonal workers is dedicated to inspiring conservation leadership and connecting people with animals and nature.Â

As part of a fast-paced HR leadership team, you will plan, develop, and implement policies, practices, and programs to promote employee engagement, positive employee and labor relations, workplace morale and productivity, and to ensure fair treatment of staff. You will counsel and advise management on day-to-day matters concerning policies, employee issues, and the labor agreement, supervise and conduct investigations, and serve as a change agent, partnering with managers to promote organizational change and a culture that improves the organization’s ability to achieve its mission and strategic business objectives. Requires a Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field; PHR/SPHR certification desirable. Minimum 6-8+ years comparable experience at a management level; requires specialized experience in 3 or more HR disciplines. Labor relations experience and bilingual Spanish a plus, but not required. Position requires an energetic, proactive, team player who is strategic in his/her orientation, assertive, tactful, and persistent, with a positive attitude and a sense of humor. Requires strong interpersonal, communications, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities. This is a visible position and an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about HR, wants to make a difference, and be part of a dynamic organization. Please forward your resume and cover letter in Word format, including salary expectations and indicate Manager, Employee Relations in the subject line. EEO/AAP Employer.Â
