Human Resources/Payroll Clerk

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an opening for a Human Resources/Payroll Clerk at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center in Long Beach, CA.  This position coordinates and prepares payroll for all employees in coordination with the Accounting Manager, and in compliance with state and federal wage and hour requirements and SMG policy. It also supports the Human Resources Manager with human resources functions such as recruiting, new hire orientations, benefits administration, records retention etc. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Collects all approved timesheets from department heads and processes facility payroll Processes all wage garnishments, deductions, and payments for applicable employees Processes vacation, holiday, and sick payment requests upon approval by the HR Manager Prepares payroll adjustments Prepares manual checks, posts to ADP Recruitments Pre employment processes Post employment processes Coordinates documentation for investigations Coordinates response to corporate reports New hire orientations Unemployment insurance Claims responses Produces termination paperwork Creates and maintains employee files HRIS System updates and maintenance Develops reports Performs other functions that are assigned by Human Resources Manager

SKILLS REQUIRED:
This position requires ability to:Demonstrate knowledge of principles, practices and terminology of accounting and record keeping Operate a personal computer using Windows Word, Excel, Outlook; payroll software and other related standard office equipment Follow oral and written instructions and communicate effectively with others in both oral and written form Organize and prioritize work to meet deadlines; work effectively under pressure and/or stringent schedule and produce accurate results Maintain an effective working relationship with clients, employees, exhibitors, patrons and others encountered in the course of employment Work independently, exercising judgment and initiative Remain flexible and adjust to situations as they occur

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field from an accredited four-year college or university and a minimum of two (2) years of ADP payroll processing experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience Prior supervisory experience preferred Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules,
operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and have capacity to learn new programs as needed Strong customer service orientation Good work ethic Excellent communication and inter-personal skills Ability to undertake and complete multiple tasks Attention to detail
