Human Resources Manager

SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities has an excellent and immediate opening for a Human Resources Manager at the Palm Springs Convention Center & Bureau of Tourism.This position performs all aspects of Human Resources functions, consistent with SMG policies.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Follows SMG Human Resources policies to ensure compliance with legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting human resources functions.  Maintains compliance with local state regulations that supersede and/or add to federal regulations. Performs full-cycle recruitment activities.  Recruits, interviews, tests, and selects employees to fill vacant positions.  Plans and conducts new employee orientations. Keeps records of benefits participation such as insurance and pension plan. Oversees personnel transactions not limited to hires, promotions, transfers, performance review, terminations, and employee statistics for government reporting. Advises facility management of appropriate resolution of employee issues.  Informs corporate office of EEOC complaints and other escalated matters. Develops training programs and oversees training of Managers in interviewing, hiring, terminations, promotions, performance management, performance review, safety, and sexual harassment. Manages corporate Human Resources reporting, statistics and reports such as turnover, EEOC, overtime, leave and attendance. Directly supervises administrative employees in the Human Resources Department.

QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university desirable 5 years hands-on human resources experience Solid knowledge of principals and practices of personnel administration Expertise with state and federal regulations required Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Experience with HRIS software desirable Irregular hours and minimal travel may be required
