SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The successful candidate will have an established track record and excellent current relationships at US mobile operators (carriers), handset manufacturers, and other companies deeply involved in the mobile/wireless ecosystem.  The ideal candidate will have direct experience working for a carrier or handset manufacturer or a company that deals with them regularly as a content or service provider or aggregator.

 

This is an entrepreneurial growth culture that requires a team player that brings a can-do attitude and a strong desire to succeed.  As the number one US mobile site, and a top 400 US Internet site, the Company has the opportunity to become a valuable strategic business partner to established mobile industry leaders and the Director of Business Development will be charged with opening the doors and closing the deals. 

 

SPECIFIC DUTIES

 

· Act as Industry Evangelist for Company, keeping us in the forefront of thinking among Mobile/Wireless industry leaders

· Establish and maintain direct relationships with key wireless carriers, handset manufacturers and other Mobile/Wireless partners

· Directly negotiate and close business deals with partners as appropriate

· Act as Liaison between Partners and other internal Company groups (sales, marketing, engineering, etc.) as appropriate

COMPANY OVERVIEW

 

We are conducting an executive search for a well-funded, early stage Web and Mobile Web Company in the Ft. Lauderdale area looking for a Wireless Industry Wizard to help take them to the next level.  Our client has created a great way for independent web companies and independent musicians and other artists to deliver their mobile content to their fans’ mobile phones in a radically simplified way resulting in a community based destination web site.   All the content that is delivered is aggregated and available for consumption at this consumer-facing website. 

 

The Company has created a great way for big name brands targeting 18-24 year olds to reach their market via web advertising and via mobile phone advertising.  The Company has begun generating significant revenues and has many strong reference-able clients. The web site has seen growth rates in the 30% month over month range for the last 18 months. The Company’s business model is dependent on the selling of advertising from its web site, within its text messages and from its mobile web site. Most of this advertising is being sold in an undifferentiated way through advertising auction networks. The company has created its growth virally and other than marketing personnel salaries, it spends almost no money on advertising and yet more than 35 thousand new users are visiting the web site every day.
