Communications Technician 1 - Cable Installer - Gadsden, Alabama
1.Perform requested and non-pay disconnects, adhering to Comcast procedures and safe work practices, NEC and NESC requirements, and local ordinances in order to provide requested services.
2.Pre-wire single unit dwellings in order to provide “ready hook-up” capabilities.
3.Clean, maintain and stock vehicle and equipment in order to be prepared to perform required duties.
4.Inspect existing ground or make new ground according to the National Electrical Code (NEC) in order to protect employees, customers, and equipment from electrical shock or damage.
5.Complete associated paperwork with each work order in a timely manner in order to ensure all details of the work are recorded for entry in the customer’s account once the work is checked in.
6.During the course of normal day-to-day activities: a.Properly operate and maintain installation tools and equipment. b.Report need for vehicle repair or service when required and/or prescribed. c.Report any accidents, losses, injuries or property damage to supervisor and customer when appropriate.
7.Apply knowledge and skills of training on the job in order to prepare for transition to CommTech 2 which must be achieved by completion of 90 day Introductory Period.
8. Punctual, regular and consistent attendance.
9.Perform all other duties as requested and assigned in order to achieve business goals and objectives.
Required Skills:
Operational Competencies:
1. Ability to use basic cable installation tools and hand tools.
2. Ability to perform job from high places (on poles and roofs).
3. Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), the National Electrical Safety Code (NESC), the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA), various state and local codes including G.O. 95 and G.O. 128, (when applicable), and the policies and procedures for CATV installation activities.
4. Ability to read general system layouts from blueprints.
5. Knowledge of cable television products and services.
6. Knowledge of basic mathematics.
7. Ability to communicate with customers in a clear and straight forward manner.
8. Ability to work independently.
9. Ability to prioritize and organize effectively.
10. Ability to work overtime as needed.
Training/Licenses/Certifications:
1. Valid drivers license and satisfactory driving record.
2. High school diploma/GED
