CORPORATE CONTROLLER

OUR CLIENT, A GROWING PUBLIC CONCERN IN THE ENTERTAINMENT & PUBLICATION INDUSTRY WITH MULTI-LOCATION PRESENCE, SEEKS A DYNAMIC CONTROLLER TO DIRECT AND ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY FOR ACCOUNTING PRACTICES, FINANCIAL REPORTING, FINANCIAL PLANNING, AND INTERNAL CONTROLS.

KEY POSITION WITH ACTIVE INVOLVEMENT IN THE APPRAISAL OF OPERATING RESULTS AND THE IMPLEMENTATION OF COST EFFICIENCIES, INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY, FOR ENHANCED PROFITABILITY.

HIGHLY VISIBLE ROLE REPORTING DIRECTLY TO SENIOR CORPORATE FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

·  Responsible for financial management and supervision of accounting department of 6 to 10 personnel

·Responsible for accurate and timely Internal financial reporting on a monthly, quarterly and year-end basis.

·Key contributor to external SEC reporting on a quarterly and year-end basis.

·Leads month-end close process and consolidation of financial information for reporting purposes

·Active involvement in Financial Planning, Budgeting, Forecasting, Variance Monitoring, Cash Flow Management and reporting

·Develops and administers accounting policies to comply with GAAP, Tax Requirements, SEC and Management Reporting requirements.

·Supervisory responsibility for general and property accounting, internal auditing, and budgetary controls.

·Interprets operating results and makes specific recommendations which will result in cost reduction and profit improvement.

·Reviews income and balance sheet statements, consolidated statements and various other accounting statements and reports.

·Analyzes financial reports and records, making studies or recommendations relative to the accounting of reserves, assets and expenditures.

·Reviews and verifies the accuracy of journal entries and accounting classifications assigned to various records.

·Plans, directs, supervises, reviews and sets goals and objectives for the Accounting staff.

·Reviews and approves all payments to vendors to ensure accurate accounting and maximum utilization of cash flow.

·Annual audit coordination and liaison with external auditors.

·Conducts special accounting studies and prepares reports accordingly.

·Sales/use/liquor tax, state income/franchise taxes, property taxes

·Ensure insurance coverage is complete and accurate.

·Payroll supervision for ~ 850 employees.

·Light travel to satellite locations to solve problems and perform audits.

Requirements

·Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or similar

·M.B.A. a plus, CPA preferred

·8+ years of experience preferably in the Entertainment, Show, Gaming, Casino, Theatre, Restaurant, or Retail industry, with upward progression to financial management capacity.

·In-depth knowledge of GAAP

·Consolidation, Financial Reporting, and SEC Reporting experience highly preferred.

·Solid leadership skills, with team building abilities

·Hands-on management style with demonstrated attention to detail.

·Analytical abilities to research, extract, and summarize complex or diverse information

·Problem solving abilities to identify and creatively resolve problems in a timely manner

·Excellent communication and interactive skills with proven verbal, written and reporting abilities. 

·Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions in a group or public forum.

·Solid business acumen to understand business implications of decisions and align work with strategic goals.

·Able to follow policies & procedures, follow instructions, responds to management direction, and complete tasks on time.

·Adaptable to change in a dynamic work environment

·Quality minded, with demonstrated accuracy and thoroughness in ways to improve and promote quality. 

·Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills.

·Good planning and organizational skills.

·Able to effectively monitor and develop subordinates.

·Familiarity with IRS, state, sales and franchise regulations.

·Familiarity with SEC regulations.

·Personable leader and firm decision-maker

·Good project management skills.

·Systems proficiency including Accounting Software / ERP System evaluation and implementation experience a definite plus

·Microsoft Office (MS Excel, MS Word, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint)
