PLEASE E-MAIL RESUME TO: debbiephilbin@spherion.com WELD ENGINEER - COMPANY IS LOCATED IN CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINAPOSITION OVERVIEW: -Evaluate and develop processes for the improvement of manufacturing operations and welding techniques. Recommend engineering and manufacturing actions to attain design objectives. Conduct research and analysis of materials and processes on assigned products or programs.RESPONSIBILITIES: - Develop welding techniques, procedures and application of welding equipment to problems involving fabrication of metals - Utilize knowledge of production specifications, properties and characteristics of metals and metal alloys - Conduct investigations to develop and test new fabrication processes and procedures - Improve existing or develop new welding techniques - Perform experimental welding to evaluate new equipment, techniques and materials - Complies with federal, state and aerospace industry regulations - Refine and enhance products and processes by applying continuous improvement and key lean manufacturing principles and techniquesQUALIFICATIONS: - BS Degree in Engineering or related field - Must successfully pass welding tests - Knowledge of most common metallurgial processes, such as heat treating, welding etc. - Practical knowledge of materials and process engineering principles - Ability to evaluate and assist with supplier material and processing problems - Employee may be required to travel to vendors, customers and/or for training purposes - Experience in aerospace or related field a plusSalary - $55K - $75K Since 1946, Spherion has been helping talented individuals find rewarding job opportunities that drive excellence in their career.
