Value Stream Leader                                       

 

POSITION SUMMARY:

 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Value Stream Leader will be expected to supervise operating personnel for efficient, safe and profitable operation of the manufacturing area. The incumbent will be responsible for administration of day to day manpower, equipment and processing needs of the plant site.  The Shop Value Stream Leader will work closely with operations management to ensure manufacturing safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals are achieved. The Value Stream Leader will drive process improvements using our propriety principles.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Supervise the activities of the assigned departments

Schedule operations in a manner that prevents delays and manpower is efficiently utilized

Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures in all operations and activities

Assess and address training needs of associates

Evaluate and manage employee performance

Exercise proper care in utilization of buildings, equipment and services

Make recommendations to improve yields and reduce waste, labor, materials, and maintenance.

Work with Engineering to investigate and resolve process issues and implementation of new products in the manufacturing area.

Collaborates with Operations Manager and Production Planner to establish working schedules for all departments connected with production.

Maintains adherence to company policies, safety standards, and 5S practices.

Recommends the hiring and releasing of production personnel as required to maintain production schedule.

Assures that machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained for efficient production.

Arranges to have appropriate production records prepared and maintained.

Keeps records of departmental activities, as required.

Assures efficient and economical utilization of materials, improvement of methods, and elimination of wasteful practices within the department.

 

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Three to six years of experience in manufacturing

One to three years of experience in supervision preferred

Working knowledge of lean manufacturing principles

Bachelor’s degree (ME or other related field) or equivalent trade experience in machining operations

Previous experience managing and driving change preferred

Strong communication and relationship building skills
